In 1970 the land at Blue Jay Point Country Park was purchased by the US Army Corps of Engineers for the construction of Falls Lake. Wake County leased the land from the Corps of Engineers and the park officially opened to the public on January 1, 1992. Blue Jay Point County Park is a Wake County park spanning 236 acres in the northwestern part of the county adjacent to Wake Forest. Blue Jay Point borders Falls Lake on three sides and the park is located on a peninsula. The park was once farmland and most of the land is now almost forested. The park was named for the numerous blue jays that lived around the open farmland. The park is artificially forested with many species of life, different animals and birds, these birds are not common, but if you are lucky you can see them. In addition to the park’s usual activities, there is the Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course, a rope swing with a zipline.
